Dr. Fiona Roberts

Fiona is an IRCA trained Lead Auditor and has a total of 30 years’ experience in the application of on-farm assessment protocols across a range of species and production systems both in the UK and EU Fiona’s key areas of expertise are in health and welfare evaluation agricultural livestock sectors; having first-hand experience in assessment and advisory activities across a broad range of protein supply chains in the UK, EU and globally. Fiona retains an active research and publication presence in addition to contact with key research bodies, policy groups and NGO’s. She has sound technical knowledge of management and husbandry considerations at a farm level, as well as a detailed understanding of slaughter process, meat quality, further processing and related ESG considerations. Additionally, Fiona can provide business insight and has supported on the development of policy recommendations for processors, retail, and food service businesses on emerging issues such as the One Health Agenda, sustainability, and the use of precision livestock farming developments to evaluate behaviour and welfare at group level as part of animal-based outcome measures.
