But industry events can be costly, so right now when budgets are tight, choosing the ones best suited to you and your business are important. 

That’s why we’ve done the hard work for you with our curated pick of the eight top events to attend in the rest of 2023. Listed in chronological order, each event is broken down by region, sector, location and who will most benefit from attending. 1. Fine Food Australia 

Region: APAC

Who is it for: For professionals working in the foodservice, hospitality and retail industries. 

What to expect: Expect a showcase of over hundreds of exhibitors, ranging from catering equipment and packaging to dairy, meat, and seafood over four days. 

Why attend: Running for 38 years, Fine Food Australia is the nation’s only established tradeshow dedicated to all things food, from food service to hospitality and catering equipment. With thousands of visitors, it should provide plenty of opportunities for making in-person connections.

When is it: 11-14 September 2023

2. The Table

Region: Americas

Who is it for: Most beneficial for Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Nutrition, Auditing and Sustainability professionals.

What to expect: This is the first outing for this three-day event, so currently The Table is a bit of an unknown quantity. But the website promises to engage visitors on pressing topics and deliver comprehensive insights from food service industry insiders.  

Why attend: There is the potential here for some refreshing perspectives and strong networking opportunities. Best-selling author, Rohit Bhargava, is the keynote speaker, and will be discussing how to use non-obvious thinking to identify upcoming trends. 

When is it: 12-14 September, 2023

3. Livestock Supply Chain Connect 

Region: EMEA

Who it is for: This event is for meat producers, retailers, distributors, and technology companies, who are interested in production efficiency, sustainability and profitability.  

What to expect: Expect over 200 speakers from leading companies Hilton Food Group, M&S and 2 Sisters Food Group at this two-day event. You can also book in meetings ahead of time and there will be plenty of networking opportunities available.  

Why attend: There is great potential here to make supply chain connections. The organisers have promised some big industry names will be in attendance, and our own Dr Fiona Roberts will be speaking during her visit (You can listen to her recent webinar on food safety at the bottom of the page). The live panel discussions and presentations will be exploring the new innovative solutions that are emerging in the industry. 

When is it: 20-21 September, 2023

4. North American Food Safety & Quality (NAFS)

Region: Americas

Who is it for: Targeted at individuals who work in food safety, quality, compliance, risk management.  

What to expect: The integration of food safety systems, supply chain management and risk management are top of the agenda at this two-day event. 

Why attend: With more than 250 executives signed up, there will be plenty of opportunities to network. Kimberly Coffin, Global Technical Director of Supply Chain Assurance at LQRA, will serve as room chair.  

When is it: 26-27 September, 2023

5. Food Integrity Global 2023  

Region: EMEA

Who is it for: Best for industry professionals working in the food safety, sustainability, transparency, trust, and food safety culture space. 

What to expect: New Food, who run the two-day event, have signed up 120 speakers for the 300 plus attendees from more than 80 countries to listen to at webinars, panel sessions, innovative case studies and keynote sessions. 

Why attend: With such a large pool of people attending, this should be a great networking and trend source for food safety and sustainability professionals. Leading experts including Professor Chris Elliott, from the Institute for Global Food Security, will be participating in the panel discussions. Topics sure to be discussed include impacts of climate change, rising inflation and disruptions in our supply chains. 

When is it: 17-18 October 2023

6. Thinkfood Live  

Region: APAC

Who is it for: This event is targeted at industry buyers, suppliers and service providers interested in both NPD and improving their existing product ranges.  

What to expect: This new industry event presented by FoodPro, which promises innovative solutions on the show floor and  daily content streams delivering insights from the experts in food innovation.  

Why attend: This interesting concept is a first for Australia. There should be opportunities to explore how to take your NPD to the next level in innovative ways.  

When is it: 25-26 October 2023

7. Food Ingredients Europe

Who is it for: Aimed at those involved in NPD and food industry innovation.  

What to expect: Focusing on the current challenges and opportunities in R&D, this two-day conference in Frankfurt is expecting over 25,000 attendees.

Why attend: During its 35-year run, this event has previously brought together some of the world’s leading food and beverage suppliers, buyers, R&D experts, and production specialists all under the one roof. Topics of discussion this year include explored plant base, health and wellbeing, reformulations and ingredient innovations, alternative ingredients, and proteins.  

When is it: 28-30 November 2023

8. AMIC Meat Processing and Export Conference 2023

Region: APAC

Who is it for: Aimed at industry professionals involved in meat processing, procurement, supply chain and exporting. 

What to expect: The programme for this two-day conference hasn't been released yet. So watch this space for more details. 

Why attend: Billed as premier event for the meat industry in 2023, this is a must for meat processors and exporters looking to stay connected to events and innovations within the industry.
